Traditional Pancakes

A classic breakfast favorite, these traditional pancakes are light, fluffy, and perfect for a cozy morning meal. Serve them with your choice of toppings, from maple syrup to fresh fruit.

Makes 4 large pancakes (recipe easily scalable) · Prep 15 mins · Cook 15 mins · 4 ingredients · 6 steps

Ingredients

  • 100g plain flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 300ml milk
  • 1 tbsp oil (sunflower or vegetable)

Method

  1. Whisk the batter. In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and whisk together until you have a smooth batter.
  2. Rest the batter. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes to allow the flour to absorb the liquid, which will help create fluffy pancakes.
  3. Heat the pan. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with a little oil
  4. Cook the first side. Pour a ladleful of batter into the pan, tilting it to spread the batter evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges start to look set.
  5. Flip and finish. Flip the pancake and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown on both sides. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more oil to the pan as needed.
  6. Serve warm. Serve the pancakes warm with your favorite toppings, I like caster sugar and lemon juice, but maple syrup, honey, or fresh fruit are also delicious options.
